During a recent client review meeting, something beautiful happened. One of our long-time clients looked at us and said, "You people had such perfect timing in gold. Especially the SGBs. These have gone up 100–150%! Truly brilliant." For a moment, we felt proud. And grateful. And humbled. But we also felt it was important to say something that most people in our industry won’t say: We did not predict this. We did not foresee this. This was not brilliance. This was a gift from the market. What was intentional… what was by design… was the discipline. The discipline to always keep 5–10% of our clients’ wealth in gold, even when it was boring, even when it was ignored, even when it was unpopular.
Over the years, many clients have questioned us: "Why so much safety?" "Why so much debt?" "Why not more equity when markets are booming?" And yet, time quietly does what noise never can — it reveals the truth.
In calendar year 2025, the so-called boring debt funds beat large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap indices.
Multi-asset funds — balanced, quiet, sensible — beat most aggressive equity funds. But this is not about one year. Or gold. Or debt. This is about something deeper: humility before markets.
Because the honest truth is this: No one — absolutely no one — knows what will work next year. Not fund managers. Not TV experts. Not us. And anyone who says they do is not selling insight. They are selling hope wrapped in confidence. What does work…Is having a plan. Is respecting risk. Is diversifying before you need to. Is protecting before chasing. Is staying disciplined when it feels unnecessary.
If your advisor is pushing you into last year’s best-performing fund, please pause and ask yourself: Are they managing your money… or your emotions? And always remember: Past performance is not an indicator of future performance.
At Naveen Rego Capital, we don’t promise miracles. We promise process, prudence, and peace of mind.
And sometimes, quietly, the market rewards that patience.
Happy Financial Planning!
